David Clifton-Strawn is an independent portrait and urban environment photographer. He was born in Atlanta, Georgia in 1961. He received a BA in early 20th century American literature in 1988. Self-taught in photography, he is inspired by Herman Leonard, Richard Avedon, Diane Arbus, Robert Mapplethorpe, Duane Michals, and Zanele Muholi. He lives and works in Atlanta.
My portrait work includes formal portraiture and documentary. The documentary portraits focus on the dignity, strength and resilience of individuals, with a focus on those who live and thrive on the edges of society or live with different abilities.
